How we test AI video tools

Every ranking and tutorial on KursVideoAI is built on a repeatable methodology: a standardized prompt set, the median of 5–7 generations, 8 weighted criteria, and 3 real client projects. No paid partnerships, no affiliate links.

8 scoring criteria (weighted)

Criterion Weight What we measure
Image quality 25% Texture realism, character consistency across frames, absence of artifacts (deformed hands, mismatched shadows).
Audio + lip-sync 15% Whether the model generates sound natively, voice quality, and how well mouth movement matches speech.
Prompt adherence 15% How accurately the model follows English prompts, including nuanced, multi-part instructions.
Camera control 10% Availability of motion brush, director mode, image-to-video, and character reference.
Price (USD) 15% Monthly subscription and cost per 10s clip, measured against a real workflow (5–7 re-rolls per final shot).
Render time 10% Median across 20 generations during business hours (10:00–18:00 CET).
Compliance (EU AI Act, GDPR) 5% Watermarking (SynthID, C2PA), commercial license, and transparency around training data.
Global availability 5% Works without a VPN, accepts international cards, and offers an English interface.

The testing process, step by step

  1. 1

    Standardized prompt set

Every tool is tested with the same set of 50 prompts (5 categories × 10): industry, social media, cinematic, motivational, and educational. The prompts are public and documented on our blog.

  2. 2

    5–7 generations per prompt

From each prompt we run 5–7 generations (re-rolls) and take the median quality, not the best case. This reflects the real workflow, where you pay for every generation.

  3. 3

    Real client projects

Beyond the standardized tests, a tool must pass through 3 real client projects (product ad, social media, B2B explainer) before it enters the ranking.

  4. 4

    Quarterly updates

AI video models update every 3–6 months. We refresh the ranking and tutorials at least once per quarter (each post carries an "Updated" date).

  5. 5

    Anonymized case studies

Client brands are anonymized (a regional restaurant chain, a beauty brand). Full case studies are available after signing an NDA. The metrics (CTR, cost/video, ROI) are always concrete.

Conflict of interest

  • No paid partnerships with tool vendors (Sora, Veo, Runway, Kling). Subscriptions are purchased at full price.
  • No affiliate links in educational content (blog, tutorials).
  • Full pricing transparency: tests run on real paid plans, not trial accounts.
